Proper function of the hypothalamus     The hypothalamus is the main subcortical centers that regulate autonomic functions. Irritation of the anterior nuclei simulates the effects of the parasympathetic nervous system, its effects on the body trophotropic: miosis, bradycardia, decreased blood pressure, increased secretion and motility of the gastrointestinal tract. Supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei involved in the regulation of water and salt metabolism by producing antidiuretic hormone.
